Vodafone, Three and EE have begun to switch off their 3G network across the UK and will complete the process by 2024, with the earliest closing down by September 2023.
For the time being, 3G devices will continue to be able to use 2G services where available; however, this service may not be fast enough for some devices.
Some older Security and Fire Alarm signalling solutions rely on 3G to send signals to Alarm Receiving Centres. This change will also impact 3G devices using roaming SIMs.
If you are unsure if your system is affected, please get in touch with us at enquiries@alertdata.io If you are impacted, don’t worry, there are options to easily upgrade your signalling equipment to the latest IP technologies.
